Como funciona a estrutura da redação do Enem na prática

A redação do Enem tem cinco parágrafos. Não é uma sugestão, é um formato esperado pela banca. Introduction, three development paragraphs, and a conclusion proposal. You might finish with four, or push to six, but five is what most people aim for because it fits the time window. I have sat through hundreds of these essays being graded, and the ones that score well don't do anything dramatic. They follow the structure and they stay on topic. The first paragraph introduces the theme, mentions the problem briefly, and presents your thesis argument. That's it. No quotes from philosophers nobody asked for. No clever hooks. Just tell the reader what the essay will be about and what position you're taking.

Conheça a estrutura redação do enem passo a passo

The introduction needs three things: the theme stated clearly, the problem contextualized, and your central argument (tese) stated as a single sentence. Keep it between 4 and 6 lines. If you go longer, you're eating into your development time. If you go shorter, you haven't given the grader enough to work with. Each body paragraph should follow the same skeleton. Topic sentence first. Then supporting evidence or reasoning. Then a connecting idea that leads into the next paragraph. I always use one project of solution per paragraph when the prompt gives multiple aspects to discuss. This keeps things organized. Mixing everything into one block makes the argument collapse under its own weight.

The fourth paragraph is where most people stumble. It's the second development paragraph, and it needs a different angle or evidence than the first one. If you're repeating the same point, you're not developing; you're padding. Use a different legal framework, a different historical example, or a different sociological perspective. The key is that each paragraph adds something new to the discussion.

A proposta de intervenção obrigatória

The final paragraph is not optional. You must include a detailed intervention proposal that addresses the problem you discussed. Five elements are required: the action (what will be done), the agent (who will do it), the means or method (how it will be done), the purpose (why it will be done), and the detail (a specific elaboration that makes the proposal concrete). I remember grading one essay where the candidate wrote "the government should solve the problem" without any further specification. That got a very low score on the intervention criterion because there was no agent identified, no method, and no purpose. Even basic specificity like "Ministério da Saúde deve campanhas de conscientização" earns more points than a vague general statement. The proposal must be realistic within Brazilian reality. Proposing that the UN fund a program here won't work because it's not a domestic agency. Proposing an action by a foreign entity without a clear link to Brazilian implementation is a common mistake.

There's also a nuance people miss: the intervention can't contradict anything you said in your argument. If your first paragraph claims that social media is the main cause of a problem, you can't then propose banning social media in your conclusion unless you're prepared to defend that position throughout. The proposal must be consistent with your thesis.

Distribuição de tempo e organização física

You have 30 minutes. I usually recommend spending 5 minutes planning, 20 minutes writing, and 5 minutes reviewing. That leaves room to catch errors without panicking. The planning phase is where you outline your thesis, choose your arguments, and sketch your intervention. Writing without a plan is the fastest way to run out of time mid-paragraph. The rascunho (draft) is your workspace. Structure it the same way you want the final version. Write the thesis, note your two main arguments with supporting evidence, and draft your intervention paragraph separately before assembling everything. This avoids having to restructure the whole essay during the final copy phase.

When transferring to the official sheet, leave margins. The ENEM uses optical scanners, and text that bleeds into the margins gets lost. Write in blue or black ink only. Anything else is ignored. This is one of the few hard technical rules that actually matters for your score.

Capítulos e repertório sociocultural

You need cultural references, but they must be relevant. Mentioning a random movie quote or a philosopher whose ideas you don't actually understand is worse than not mentioning anything at all. I've seen essays that cite Confucius inappropriately just to fill space. The grader notices. The reference needs to connect to the argument, not decorate it. The ENEM grading rubric has five competencies. Competency 1 is grammar and normative standard. Competency 2 is comprehension of the theme and application of concepts. Competency 3 is organization of information. Competency 4 is linguistic resources. Competency 5 is the intervention proposal. Each competency is worth 200 points, so the total is 1000. A essay that scores 0 on competency 1 fails entirely, regardless of how good the other parts are. This is why handwriting and basic grammar matter as much as your argument.

One counter-intuitive point: redundancy across paragraphs doesn't always hurt if the redundancy is structural reinforcement. Restating your thesis in slightly different words at the start of each body paragraph can strengthen coherence. But restating the same argument with the same evidence is different. Coherence and repetition are not the same thing.

Erros que aparecem todo ano

Cut-and-paste of prepared themes is caught every year. The ENEM checks for phrases that appear verbatim across many essays. If you memorized a template and filled in the blanks without adapting it to the specific prompt, your score drops significantly. The prompt gives a specific text of support and a specific theme. Your essay must engage with both. Ignoring the supporting text is one of the most common reasons essays fail competency 2. Another frequent error is the proposal of intervention that repeats the problem instead of solving it. Writing "the government should educate people more" without specifying how is circular. Education happens through specific programs, funded through specific mechanisms, implemented by specific agencies. Name them. Even if your agency choice isn't perfect, naming one shows you understand that governance requires specificity.

Finally, the correlation between topic and argument. The theme must be the focus. If the prompt is about digital violence against women and you write about general internet safety, you're off-topic. Staying strictly within the boundaries the prompt sets is essential. Vague generalizations about "technology" or "society" earn far fewer points than focused analysis of the specific issue presented.
